BSc Hon, University of Alberta PhD, University of Alberta Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Instructor in Medicine, Harvard Medical School
Graduate Researcher
I am a neuroscience PhD student, and I am supported by a NSERC Canadian Graduate
Scholarship for Doctoral students. I spend a lot of time with our microscope, which we
named Optimus… I have a love-hate relationship with Optimus, so it depends on how
temperamental Optimus is feeling that day! :P On weekends, I volunteer at a local cat
rescue, so count on me to brighten your day, as I will always have cat pictures to show
you.
Undergraduate Researcher
I am an undergraduate researcher pursuing a BSc in Neuroscience and Biology. I am
really excited about our behavioural projects and hope to learn more about research
designs as well as microscopy techniques. In my free time, I enjoy playing the piano
and snacking on almonds.
Undergraduate Researcher
I am an undergraduate student pursuing a BSc in Biology with a Concentration in Health
Science. In addition to assisting on research projects, I also assist the lab on several
administrative tasks, especially related to ethics and animals. I enjoy reading, and lately
I have been into psychology-based books like The Body Keeps the Score. My favorite
thing to do in my downtime is to try out new baking recipes! Current favorite is vanilla
bean cookies
Undergraduate Researcher
I am an undergraduate researcher pursuing a Neuroscience and Mental Health degree
at Carleton University. Though I began with neuroanatomy, I have really enjoyed
exploring new techniques regarding mouse behaviour because it's very rewarding to
see changes in how the mice act when activating specific brain regions. During my free
time I love to learn my favourite songs on guitar. Right now, I’m learning Scar Tissue by
Red Hot Chilli Peppers!
Graduate Researcher
I am a PhD student with a degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health and minor in
Biology. I am supported by a NSERC CGS-D scholarship and also an Ontario Graduate
Scholarship. My favourite lab technique is electrophysiology. I think it is amazing that we
are able to record the electrical activity of living neurons! When I am away from the lab,
I like to review chai lattes (@twogalsratechai), and I am co-editor-in-chief of the
Carleton Undergraduate Journal of Science.
Graduate Researcher
I am a PhD student with a MSc in Neuroscience, and I am supported by NSERC CGS-D
funding. My favourite lab techniques are patch clamp electrophysiology and in vitro
imaging because I am passionate about understanding synaptic mechanisms! Outside
of the lab you might find me walking my dog, going for a run, or trying a new board
game!
Undergraduate Researcher
I am an undergraduate researcher from Nepal pursuing a BSc in Neuroscience and
Mental Health with a Minor in Psychology. I have really enjoyed learning different lab
skills like slicing and mounting, and I am excited to do imaging and microscope work
because it's awesome to see the brain up close. At home, I love crocheting while
watching Grey's Anatomy or Doctor Who.
Graduate Researcher
I am a Master’s student with a BSc Honours in Neuroscience and Mental Health from
Carleton University, and I am supported by an Ontario Graduate Scholarship. I have
really enjoyed learning and attempting a wide range of lab techniques offered in the
Chee Lab, including immunohistochemistry staining and patch-clamp recordings.
Outside of the lab, you'll probably catch me playing volleyball – whether it's indoors,
beach, or on grass!
Undergraduate Researcher
I am an undergraduate researcher pursuing a BSc Honors in Neuroscience and Biology.
I am really excited to learn how to do immunohistochemistry because I'm looking
forward to seeing neurons fluoresce under the microscope. Fun fact, I love vegetables,
my favourite are beets and my least favourite is romaine lettuce.
Principal Investigator
I am an undergraduate student pursuing a BIT with a diploma in Design. I am very excited to work in the lab because there are always fun activities and ways to connect with new people as well as learn about what they do!
In my spare time, I enjoy reading books with hot chocolate.
My favorite movie is "How to Train your Dragon"!
Graduate Researcher
I am currently an undergraduate researcher supported by a NSERC USRA scholarship
for the summer. I have a background in Psychology and will also be graduating with a
BSc Honours in Neuroscience and Mental Health from Carleton University. The best
instrument we have in the lab is the TissueLyser II. It is very loud, you can hear it for
miles, but it’s a lifesaver! My favourite activities outside the lab are reading, cooking,
and watching films!
